The Focal Point: People Issues

A large nuclear power company had to conform to new regulations facing the utility industry. Two internal teams, one from finance and another from the technical side, were not seeing eye to eye on what needed to be done. At the rank and file level, managers had been blocked for over a year from crafting a workable procedure. When the two key managers were introduced into the Sofi system, Sofi personnel were informed by the client, "These two managers - a man and a woman - dislike each other. They do not even want to sit in the same room together." However, reporting requirements in the new government mandate forced the two management teams to come together and function as one.
